I'm always a sucker for charming smartass characters with a good heart, and Eldon is 100% that. Even though Madison is somewhere in the Mojave, it's already perfectly written in a way that could make it any small town in the States. (This is coming from someone who grew up in a gas station in a small town in the States.) It's such an interesting concept, too. Who wouldn't want a wish to come true? It's like those games online where you throw a wrench into the wish of the person who comments above you. I feel for Eldon, too. Obviously, no one wants to waste a wish. But at the same time, it's not fair to have a thousand and one outside influences to tell you what you should wish for. It's also nice to read a story with a good father figure for a change (clearly, I look for stuff with daddy issues).
