The author is incredibly effective in capturing the reader from the very beginning. She feeds the reader just enough information to incite curiosity. However, it’s clear that the main character has many family issues and is having a difficult time deciding what wish to make when the time comes.
I would be willing to guess that this book captures the typical teenage angst of coming to age while also emphasizing the weight that all our choices carry throughout our lives. Already the book has made me sympathize with the main character as well as make me laugh at some of his thoughts and reactions. It is clear that all of the characters have their own mysteries and issues which will become apparent further into the book. I will definitely read the rest when this book is released.
