From the very first chapter, I was drawn to the story and characters. Eldon has just enough sarcasm in his narrating to attract a young adult reader while telling a story that adult readers would enjoy as well. The characters were easy to relate to and helped to create a desire to find out more about them. What happened to Eldon's sister? Why is his mother so bitter? Why is Eldon's father so beaten down? And talk about the ultimate dream--one wish guaranteed to come true on your 18th birthday? Although some of the f-bombs might prevent it from showing up on my middle school shelves, I think the story is one that will appeal to a wide audience. All in all, I would definitely read this book and look forward to the rest of the story.
