As You Wish is one of those books that readers will like, despite all of the holes in the plot. Eldon lives in Madison, a small town in the desert with a big secret. Each resident of the town is granted one wish on their eighteenth birthday, though the repercussions of said wish has left many desiring for a do-over. As Eldon approaches his day, will the stress of making the right decision cause him to act rashly? Will the outside pressure, including the need to keep the town's secret from those who pass through town, compel Eldon to something?

I liked As You Wish, but it was not without its problems. The premise was interesting, but the plot goes off the rails for me. Without spoiling the book for potential readers, all I can say is that certain people in Eldon's life seemed there only to move the plot along. The pressures that Eldon faces are a little too "in your face" and ruin the magical element of the book. Readers who like fantasy may like As You Wish for its magical charm, so I would recommend this book.
