I loved the casual, conversational tone of this book; it really drew me in and made me feel interested in what was going to happen. Even though it’s incredibly evident that the narrator, Eldon, has his own flaws, I can’t help but find him to be endearing. I’m really curious as to what he inevitably wishes for, and to understand what happened to his sister—was it a wish gone wrong? Did she leave? Did she die?—and why aliens are so relevant to this story. I can’t remember reading any other YA novels involving wishes in the way that this one uses them, but it is slightly reminiscent of Maggie Stiefvater’s All the Crooked Saints, but in the best ways possible. I hope to read the rest of this novel as soon as I can get my hands on a full copy!
