Tthe concept of "be careful what you wish for," whether it's from a genie or a magical fish, is a familiar one. There's something about being given whatever you want most, without earning it, that tends to backfire on people, to the point where maybe you'll regret making any wishes at all.

I liked Eldon a lot. He seems wiser than a 17-year-old should be, which makes me wonder what happened to make him that way. What happened to his little sister? What do people wish for, and how do those wishes turn out wrong? Why are the wishes granted when you're 18?

The book cover is absolutely gorgeous! It definitely caught my eye and made me want to take a closer look.
