This is a fascinating premise for a book. The citizens of Madison get one wish each and their 18th birthday is the big day. We meet Eldon Wilkes just 25 days before his big day. Each chapter is a countdown to the big day. Already in this first glimpse we can see that making a wish is much more complicated than you might think and we have many questions: What happened to Eldon's little sister? What did his mom wish that my have contributed to their rundown home and lack of means? How did his dad get injured after his wish to be the best football player? Hopefully the rest of the book will bring closure and show us the rest of Eldon's journey to his Wish Day and what happens after.
