I was drawn into this book, first, by the cover - it's absolutely gorgeous. And the book itself was gripping from the beginning. Eldon, the smarmy seventeen-year-old gas station attendant from Madison, NV, made me smile with his wisecracks and trains of thought. He's from a small town in the desert, but the town is special in that eighteen-year-olds get a special "wish" on their birthday.
I got so engrossed in this preview that I was sad it ended! What does Eldon wish for? What's the wishing process entail? How does this all come about? I am so entranced, and I can't wait to read more.
