As Bright as Heaven allows the reader to see the end of WW I and the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918 through the eyes of the Bright family. The book alternates narrators of a mother and her three daughters. You feel what they feel as they deal with lives that are taken away in a blink of an eye. How does one go on with so much death literally at their doorstep? Susan explores how her characters make new normals and are able to cope with living life! Amazing story of resilience!
