Interesting beginning with words about no longer fearing death

A young wife risks everything to venture to a new place with her husband. She has decided to take the big step and move to Philadelphia so her husband can train to be an undertaker with his uncle. She is leaving behind her infant son’s grave and is torn by this decision, but she has hope that all will go well with this new venture. The prose is heart-wrenching as the young mom says her good-bye at the gravesite and says she no longer fears death. She seems to be looking to a future that is hopeful, or at least better than what she has now. She does not know what the future holds but she does know that she is leaving everything that is familiar behind. The reader is drawn to her story and wants to know how she will fare in this new land.
