Although I read this book well before today's current COVID pandemic, I can't help be think it reflects a lot on our current status, which honestly gives me hope. People got through the Spanish flu of 1918, and we will get through COVID!

I really enjoyed this book. Despite the difficult subject matter, the book was an easy and enjoyable read. It was especially interesting that the family was living at a funeral home during such a challenging time, and that lead to storylines that I have not previously considered. It was also interesting that it was set in Philadelphia, considering Philly's status as one of the hardest hit cities by the 1918 flu. The book was well-researched and well written, and ended on a positive note, something we can all use right now!
