Quickly, though, we are brought to a realization this mother lost her only son, six months into his life, and is ready for a fresh start as a mortuary's wife in a new town, a town far from the lost of her only son. Instantly, the reader is offered connection to a grieving mother, aware of her grieving family and ready to take on an opportunity away from the only home she's known. Death can wholly change a person, it would appear the reader is being offered the chance to walk alongside a mother as she grasps her inner changes through her past and what's to come.
