Such a brief First Look, but it immediately captured my attention. The style of Susan Meissner is incredibly poetic. I have never read any of her novels before, but I am now intrigued to discover her works. The reflection on death and life, the historical aspect, everything shouts read me. The description of the little Henry, so different from his sister, reminded of The Fifth Child, by Doris Lessing, although Ben was the exact opposite of Henry, so strong and assertive. I just want to read more about As Bright as Heaven, and dip into the historical context of the story, as much as into the themes explored in the novel.
