After reading the blurb, I was already very intrigued. I love older stories, particularly stories set in the late 1800's - early 1900's so I was going in hoping to get captivated by this story. While it wasn't totally what I initially expected, I am glad of that. I can already tell this story is very deep, how can it not be? Within just the first couple of pages you feel for this mother and her children. The heartbreak of loss is so real, but the way she is ready to take steps to make a better life for her living children is very inspiring. The way she comes to terms with death, no longer seeing it as an enemy, and actually the more peaceful option is eye opening. I love books that make me ponder life and human emotion. Can't wait to read more of this book.
