While the excerpt from the book didn't seem to have much to do with the actual plot of the story (although it has to do with why the family ends up where they do), it was very interesting.
The cover is what drew me in, and although I don't read a whole lot of historical fiction, I could definitely see myself reading this. The plot of the book sounds very interesting, and from what I saw, the book seems to be very well written and spellbinding.
