I was immediately drawn into Pauline's life, whose inner war paralleled that of the Great War being fought in Europe. The prose is beautifully written, giving me the sense of peaking into Pauline's thoughts about death, life, and the possibilities that lay ahead in Philadelphia. Can't wait to read this book.
