I've recently read Ms. Meisner's "A Fall of Marigolds" and really enjoyed it. She has a way of making you really feel for her characters. "As Bright as Heaven" already has me hooked and feeling for Pauline. Anyone who has moved far from home and left the grave of a loved one behind will connect and sadly relive the parting moments. We learn in this short sample that her husband will learn to be a mortician and face one of the greatest tragedies in Philadelphia history. Reading more about the Spanish Flu of 1918, as well as how Pauline and her family will endure should prove to be interesting and I will surely have my tissues ready.
