An Anonymous Girl is about Jessica Ferris, a 28 year old woman living in New York city. She lives paycheck to paycheck as a makeup consultant. One day she is doing a client's makeup and she learns about a morality survey that pays $500. The girl has decided to bail, and scrapped for cash, Jessica pretends to go in her place. But what starts as a simple way to make a few bucks quickly turns more complicated than she could ever have imagined. As psychologist Dr Shields' questions become more probing and she begins to work with the doctor face-to-face, Jessica realizes she no longer knows who to trust and what in her life is real. Is this really happening to her, or is Dr. Shields staging it as a test?

This book kept me turning pages just like I hoped it would. I was barely on chapter two and already sufficiently freaking out. It is clear pretty quickly that Dr. Shields is watching Jessica. During Dr. Shields' sections, Jessica is constantly being spoken to from inside the Doctor's mind. "You do this", or "I see the way you shake your head". It is eerily unsettling absolutely and kept me reading.

It is best to keep Dr. Shields a mystery, so I won't tell you any more about him/her. But as Jessica continues in the morality study, she learns the doctor has something special in mind for her. She must decide if the money is really worth it, or if she can escape Dr. Shields' questions.

I will say that the ending petered a bit out for me and lost quite a bit of steam. The tension kept building and then just stopped, and everything was resolved nicely. I think I was hoping for a bit more of a messy ending. But I still loved the book and recommend it to my fellow psychological thriller fans!

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are a great team together. They know how to use just the right amount of psychological suspense to keep the reader on her toes. I also think it is so impressive that two authors with different voices can come together to make one fluid and cohesive story. I hope these women keep working together because I love what they come up with!
