Jess is a free-lance make-up artist living in NYC. She makes ends meet but not much more especially she is helping with her brain-damaged sister unbeknownst to her parents. So when she hears about a paid study being conducted by a psych professor at the university, she pretends she is substituting for the woman who was supposed to attend. She is found out, but that is okay as the professor becomes very interested in her. Questions are geared to morality: would you cheat, steal, etc. When the professor asks to meet her in person, Jess researches to discover it is a woman, not a portly aging kindly man. Things begin to get stranger and stranger.
