This was the first I've read from the duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, and I was a bit disappointed. It switches back and forth between the main character, Jessica, and the crazy "bad guy". A little lie gets her in a study for money, and she just gets deeper and deeper, to the point where she starts doing "real world" situations. It seemed really unrealistic.
The danger level just wasn't there for me to even want to consider this a thriller. There were some twists, but they just seemed to fall kind of flat because the threat level was so low the entire time. I need the main character to be in some sort of actual peril to keep me engaged. Otherwise it feels like I'm just reading about someone's life, and it feels like I've been lied to about the contents, or the book has been mislabeled.
Either way, I will probably give these authors another shot, but this was not a good first impression.
