When I read the first chapter, I was hooked. The chapters with Dr. Shields voice were ominous. They created a tension in me that made me want to watch a comedy after reading for the evening. Then the details became overwhelming and the fact that the details were then explained to the reader rather than coming up with our own conclusions. An example is the bowl of oranges on the table after Jessica can’t reach her parents in Florida. I did wonder for a bit if Thomas had as ominous a personality as Dr. Shields, which increased the suspense. I will pass this book to a girlfriend as I think she will enjoy it. Actually, how Dr. Shields comes up with the ethics study to find a woman to use for nefarious purposes was unique.
