I really enjoyed their previous novel “The Wife Between Us” and couldn’t wait to read their current collaboration. I was not disappointed. Although not as intense as the previous one; less twists and more of a slow burn but the tension does build.

Jess is a struggling makeup artist who signs up for a morality study in hopes of making a quick $500. She becomes Subject 52 for Dr. Shields. But then it becomes more with promises of more money. Jess is fascinated by Dr. Shields as the psychiatrist is quite charming. Jess feels there is something not quite right with the study and starts to question it and herself. Told in both Jess’s and Dr. Shield’s point a view makes it even more captivating and not confusing at all. I liked it very much. Looking forward to their next one.
