The premise for this story immediately hooked me. I started reading the excerpt, and right away thought this was a book I had to buy. The writing is crisp, with just the right amount of imagery and emotion. Then one odd choice threw me off. The first chapter is written in first person, which works great. But the second chapter, for reasons I can't figure out, is written in the rarely used second person (You are the only person... You ease into the seat... etc.) The narrator is referring to the same main character from the first chapter, but from a different perspective. Then the third chapter goes back to first person. I'm hesitant to buy this book, because I really do not like second person narration.
