There isn't much in the first look, but at the same time the reader is just as intrigued by the story just as much as the main character, Jessica is. She knows she has to go back to do the survey the next day even though she doesn't necessarily need to. This is how I feel about this book. It is an interesting concept that you feel the need to keep reading, keep going back to figure out what happens. While this isn't a story that really jumps out at you from the first chapter, it is one that will make you want to keep reading.
