I've started downloading chunks of files from each of the older "first look" excerpts of books on Bookish First in an effort to both find new books that I might be interested in and, of course, to be able to get the reward points to get more free books in the future. Now that my old nook died and I've had to dump the files into a nook tablet instead, it automatically populates everything in alphabetical order. As a result, that's what I'm working with because I'm too tired to try to change it.

You've got politics and jesus within the first two pages. That tells me that the author's going to try to shove both down your throat. The excerpt is disjointed, which means that it's likely not going to get better as it goes. And then you have an overwhelming amount of cliches about both the deep south and the depression. All in all - you have a right wing author who hasn't done their research and wants to shove that crap down the reader's throat. No. I get that this was uploaded to Bookish first awhile ago, certainly before all this crap of the past half year, but eesh, this did not age well - and it wouldn't have been good when it first came out.
