3.5 stars rounded up because all-in-all I liked this book. To be honest, this is not the usual type of book I read. I flew through it, though, enjoying the sweet story, although at times it was almost too sticky sweet for me. It reminds me of a Hallmark movie (just waiting for it to become one) that has all the loose ends tied up into a happily-ever-after finish. Recommended for those who want a feel-good book to read.
Southern charm (I love books about the South) made this more enjoyable for me as are books about WWII. I also enjoyed the "mystery" part of the story that was woven in the tale as well and the separate timeline. Si and, especially, Dolly were lovely characters whose interactions with their tenants made me smile.
