I really enjoyed this book. I love to read historical fiction and have read a lot about the World War 2 era but most have taken place in Europe. This was set in that era but wasn’t necessarily about the war. All the characters were so likable and I loved how they came from different places to stay at Dolly and Si’s boardinghouse and instantly became a “family”. The characters were all going through their own hard time.....Jesse who couldn’t fight but had his own demons, Reed the veteran, Daisy the war widow as well as several others. They were all able to “heal” while staying at the boardinghouse. I loved how Dolly kept paying it forward to her community and “her boarders” when she was able too. This story had me smiling and rooting for all of them!
