All You Have to Do by: Autumn Allen is the two separate, but intertwined narratives of Kevin and Gibran. Kevin is attending Columbia University in 1968, and Gibran is attending a mostly white private school in 1995. The two stories follow these young men as they fight for change and better treatment at their academic institutions. The stories weave in and out and slowly become inextricably tied together.

The writing is beautiful and lyrical. Both stories pack such a punch. The characters feel real and rich. You root so hard for both. It's a book that can speak to all types of readers, not just young adults. It creates a space for self reflection and consideration.

The flip between the 90s and the 60s is really well done. You truly feel like you're hopping between time periods, and at the same time, realizing how much still needs to change... The book is definitely a worthwhile read!
