This seems like two powerful personal stories grounded in two pivotal historic moments. The narrative voices felt very authentic and distinct, and the prose read both simply and poetically. It was nice that some of the historical artifacts were references (e.g. the book excerpts) and I felt that was nicely integrated and well researched.
