I enjoyed reading from Gibran's POV. Even though it takes place in the 90's (not much about African American studies in curriculum has changed much since then) I think it's going to give us a bleak look into school systems and how African American studies is always reduced to one segment out of the school year, and it's always in February.
I think both Gibran and Kevin's POV's are going to show us the mistreatment of colored students, despite their intelligence, and even though they are 30 years apart from each other, I think the point is that their stories will be fairly similar.
I like this idea of two stories in one novel from different eras. I think this would make a great book to read for adults and teenagers alike.
