I appreciate the thought, but I read to indulge in the fantasy of another world, not the failings of this one.
I understand that racism is still a prominent problem, I get that. But I don't see the point of it featuring like this, in this historical fiction book (it's not leaning much into the fiction part, honestly).
The thing is, I read fiction to escape the reality of today's life, not to sink deeper into the issues that plague society. This book is not for me at all.
