I really enjoyed this excerpt! I felt that both points of view here had strong voices and were from really realistic, likeable characters, and it was super interesting to compare their lives across time and circumstance--and to see how little changed even with all that time. The writing style really drew me in as a reader as well, I felt like a got a really good sense of the characters and their thoughts and wanted to keep reading.
I also enjoyed the really important subject matter the book presents, and how it explores it through the experiences of two young black men trying to navigate racist academia. I think this is a really powerful book.
