A Book We Need to Read
This book delves into a young black man's experience in the 90's with racism and biases at his very white prep school. Just as we start to understand Girban's life, we are thrust into the past - into 1968, reading about Girban's uncle, Kevin and his fight for Black studies at his university. I like the dual timeline and I think it will lead to an interesting conflict. I think this would be a great read for YA readers, or adults, who are interested in a young man's African American experience.
