I knew this was women’s fiction involving high school students and an inappropriate photo. I did not anticipate how deep and thought provoking the book would be. It is mostly told in alternating view points between Tom, Lyla’s dad and Nina, Finch’s mother. Lyla has some chapters as well and her immature 16 year old voice is well portrayed. The book dives into issues related to the privilege of wealth, as well as how much a parent should protect their children. It is very realistic which made it painful to read at times. Every parent should read this before giving their children a phone. I was surprised that it did not really have romance as I expected it from this author. But honestly this book was better done than books of hers I read before so obviously the lack of romance worked for me.
