Emily Giffin, the queen of chick lit, appears to be continuing her climb to more serious and mature work. She has become more and more deft and combining the light and aspirational tones of her character's lives and environments with more serious topics. This book strikes the perfect balance between timely subject matter and a realistic approach to the issue in question in an American household. In All We Ever Wanted, Giffin speaks to the balance between right and wrong and how managing that comes into play within household relationships. I was concerned this book would be too heavy, but the protagonist is charming and her heart-of-gold really helps you to root for her rather than be turned off based on the premise of her lifestyle.
