I consider myself a slow reader and I read this book so fast! I am a fan of Emily Giffin so I’ve had this one on my TBR for a while. However, this is very different than what Emily Giffin usually writes. Its not a love story, however, it has her amazing writing style but dealing with heavier and timely topics.

Warning: This book will make you mad, you’ll hate all the characters. I actually like when that happens, when an author writes the characters in a way that makes me feel something. The story is told in three different perspectives which I loved. I am not a parent but I kept thinking what I would do if I was in this situation. I’d like to think I would handle the situation appropriately but I’m not a parent and I don’t know how I would react.

This book covers topics of sexual assault, race, privilege, family and friendship. I think it is very timely, thought provoking and a book that even young people should read.

This was my IRL book club pick for the month and we had our discussion yesterday. There are so many topics to discuss and I think this is a perfect pick for a book club. We had people that liked the book more than others but ultimately we all agreed that it was a good discussion starter.
