Emily Giffin is one of my go to authors. Whenever she has a new book out, I know I’ll want to read it! I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely not a love story, but a story of real life family drama.

Nina is living an enviable lifestyle. She’s married to Kirk, is part of the elite social circle, and her son Finch just got accepted to Princeton. Everything is going along great in their lives. That is until Finch and Lyla, two high schoolers, attending a party. Lyla gets drunk at the party, and ends up having a compromising photo posted of her, with a racist caption on it. Everyone is pointing fingers at Finch saying he took and posted the photo.

The book follows the aftermath of the party. Trying to figure out who’s actually reasonable for taking and posting the photo. The story alternates point of views from Nina, Lyla, and Tom (Lyla’s dad). The three of them are trying to figure out what really happened that night. They are also trying to figure out what the right thing to do is?

This book touches on race, class, parenting, families, and social media. I felt like this was a very realistic book of what goes on these days with social media. It was a heavy read for sure, but much needed. I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to others!
