I have previously read Emily Griffin's books. Her books are known for their light, fluffy characters, dramatic proceedings and happy-ish endings. All I Ever Wanted was a bit of a change for Griffin, but maintained all of the story telling talent we've come to love in her previous books.

The characters were so real, relatable and even "hate-able." The story within was timely and not unrealistic in many high school and college settings. Griffin did an incredible job using her platform to spark deeper thought in how we are approaching the rape, sexual assault debate and the unfortunate outcomes and proceedings that occur. Just as impactful was the self-awareness in how we as females are approaching each other. Are we using our experiences to help others or are we allowing the media portrayal to taint our lenses? Just because she was dressed like that or drinking does not mean she "asked for it."
