The author's writing style captured me right away. From that first paragraph on, I was absorbed in the characters' world. A heavy sense of foreboding hangs over the story, so I felt something bad building right to the point where the First Impression ends and leaves us hanging. These are characters I want to get to know.
I do have to say that I'm indifferent to the cover design. I don't find it at all compelling, and probably wouldn't have picked up the book based on that alone.
