Engaging Southern Melodrama...ready to read the full novel!

Emily Griffin manages to place her readers in the room with her characters, giving us fly-on-the-wall access to their surroundings with descriptions so vivid that I SEE the action unfolding. This novel is front-loaded with new money, old money, social status, social climbing, vagaries of youth and the marriages/families affected by each of these circumstances. I'm anticipating at least three families entwined by unforeseen events including both the bad choices of youth and the casual distance of too-trusting parents. I'm intrigued, and I can't wait to read the full novel!
