Unfortunately this one was not for me and I had to stop reading about twenty percent in because I wasn't enjoying it fully. I really loved the idea behind this book and was excited to read an adult book since I usually read more YA. I loved the cover and the idea of the church and going through records. My problem was that I really couldn't get invested and fully conenct to the main character, Emily. She was very caught up in the grief of her parents dying in a car crash ten years ago and while I don't mind talking about grief I felt like the way she acted was very immature. She kept mentioning how she was sad about her parents deaths, but then also kept reaffirming that she didn't want to deal with her emotions at all. She refused therapy and locked everything up inside. I have a feeling by the end of the book she will get through her grief but her character just didn't pull me in enough to continue on. Thanks for the chance to read!
