I have many historical fiction books, and this book surprised me a little -both in a good way and a bad way. It honestly felt a little like some of the ones I've read before as well though. The book itself shows a lot of promise. From the characters to the plot description, we can agree that it sounds intriguing. However, I found that the plot was lacking and that there was barely any character development overall. In fact, there was an emphasis on the physical description and details of the setting, although I was honestly okay with it since many authors tend to forget to add it. Overall though, it really felt well done and the plot picks up its pace later into the story. It also displays lots of realistic emotions like the grief that many of us experience throughout the book. I also loved the ending. It was very satisfying and really gave the historical, paranormal vibe.
