I am drawn to historical fiction because I love seeing how the characters are like modern characters even though they are dealing with very different circumstances. I also like to see how those historical events have shaped modern society. This book offers all of that and more. I also like the use of a journal that is discovered. There is something appealing about history being locked away in a book.
