While the premise intrigued me, I wasn't pulled in by the excerpt. The opening is a bland dinner between two couples, interrupted by Emily's overly dramatic reaction to talk of her parents, who died ten years ago. Her character seems immature and coddled, with everyone walking on egg shells around her fragility. The slow-moving drama isn't my thing, but this story will likely hold strong appeal to many readers.
