All That Was by Tanya E. Williams sounds exactly like the type of novel that immediately caught my attention. It involves the heroine, Emily, an attorney assigned to a church restoration project that encounters the ghost of a woman that can't move on because she was going to meet her husband, but he never made it. The ghost needs to convince Emily to help her from having the church torn down and solving the mystery of what happened to her beloved by reading her diary. Emily and the ghost are tied, which is another mystery.
