This was perfection. I cried at least three times and have completely fallen in love with this book! Tahir has such a great grasp on the impacts of trauma and her storytelling is impeccable. Can't wait to see what she writes next.
This is also one of those books where I think about the characters long after I’ve finished it. I hope that people aren’t turned off by the label of this as a young adult novel. It’s really so much deeper than most typical novels aimed at younger readers. Tahir has such depth to her writing, that this turned out to be much more moving than what I was expecting. Additionally, I hope that books like this one get added to required reading lists for younger readers. Although it doesn’t need to be targeted at just young adult readers, I do think teens could gain a lot from reading books that are this thought-provoking and brilliant.
