This is not a cheerful, happy book. It’s not supposed to be, with a title like that. But it is a book that is raw, insightful, captivating, important, and about a thousand other words I could use to describe it but wouldn’t suffice. It’s difficult to put into words everything I felt while reading this book, but here goes.

-The Characters-
I found myself cheering on Salahudin and Noor as they each fought their own battles, and I felt my stomach drop more than once when yet another thing went wrong for them. Misbah’s brief POVs always enhanced the story and added a new level of context. Noor and Salahudin especially felt so real. One of those things where you look up from the book and get sad when you realize they’re not. Those are my favorite types of characters.

-The Plot-
It didn’t take long at all for the plot to pick up once I started reading, and it was expertly paced throughout the rest of the book. Much of the book contains some pretty heavy content, so I definitely recommend checking the CWs before reading.

-The Writing-
Ohhhhhh my goodness the writing. The gorgeous gorgeous writing. It flowed effortlessly- suspenseful and action-filled one minute, beautiful and comforting the next. Also, Sabaa Tahir can write metaphors like nobody’s business. All My Rage is overflowing with the kind of sentences that leave you both in awe and wishing you had written them.

-Overall- 5 stars
Sabaa Tahir clearly poured her heart and soul into this story, and it paid off. I was truly angry at the trials Salahudin and Noor faced, at the injustices handed to them by the Universe. This is a book with a crystal clear reflection in the real world, and I can’t wait to (inevitably) see it read in classrooms, homes, everywhere really.
