I am a massive fan of Sabaa Tahir and I have been very impatiently awaiting this novel, her first published foray into contemporary fiction. I am so happy to see another Muslim writer addressing issues that face the modern Muslim community. Based on this sneak peek, I have a lot to look forward to in this novel. I know that parts of the novel are autobiographical; the author also grew up in a family owned motel in the desert and I am curious to know what else has been lifted from her own life. I am already in love with the characters and their complexity, the issues that burden immigrant families, minority families. It is all described with such honesty and rawness. I cannot wait to read the whole thing!
