My heart is already in shambles

I haven't actually read anything by Sabaa, although I'm slowly but surely collecting the whole Ember Quartet and can't wait to finally start the series. Although ALL MY RAGE is not a fantasy, the first few pages already showcase how gut-wrenching Sabaa's writing can be. I don't think I've read a book where the parent has a POV but I think it's intentional that Sabaa chose to start the book with Misbah's POV. My heart went out to her and what she had to endure at just 18. The last line of her chapter was particularly ominous and I feel, sets the tone for the rest of the book.

I'm a huge fan of estranged best friends-to-lovers and I look forward to watching Sal and Noor find each other again.

Although this is a love story, its clear that it's also so much more. I don't read many heavy books (and I have a feeling that I'll cry later on), but I think this story is an important one. The commentary on many of society's issues, especially, is something that I believe everyone will need to consider once this book is released.

I also love the simplicity of the cover and how it's implemented into the chapter headers. It has broad appeal and the feel is completely different from The Ember Quartet. I think that, and the way the colors are presented, was very much intentional.
