I like that this gives you a little backstory as to why they are where they are today. To modernize it with the kid from that family & another kid as both outsiders with a bond is great. I like the two main characters & would love to see how they repair their friendship to save the motel if it really does get saved. I also hope that the dad realizes what he is doing to pull himself out of it to help his son.
